Gentle bodywork focused on releasing trapped pressure patterns (flinchlocks) within the body.

Many people come to us because they are living with pain, stiffness, headaches, sciatica, restricted movement, or discomfort that is affecting their enjoyment of everyday life.

Sometimes there is a clear reason for the problem. Other times, the pain seems to have appeared out of nowhere, or it keeps returning despite trying different approaches.

ConTact C.A.R.E is a gentle hands-on bodywork approach that works with the body's natural self-defence system and the effects that sudden impacts, strains, and shocks can have on the body over time.

Rather than forcing change, we work with the body to identify and release trapped pressure patterns that may be contributing to discomfort, tension, and compensation elsewhere in the body.

What Is A Flinchlock?

Your body is designed to absorb pressure.

If you see an impact coming, your body's self-defence system prepares for it. The impact occurs, the force is absorbed, and the body is usually able to release it and carry on.

However, when an impact is sudden and unexpected, the pressure enters the body before the self-defence system has time to respond. ConTact C.A.R.E teaches that this can cause some of that pressure to become trapped within the body's structure.

These areas of trapped pressure are known as flinchlocks.

They can occur from events such as slipping or falling, missing a step, rolling an ankle, twisting while lifting something heavy, a sporting knock, a car accident, or even something that seemed minor at the time.

Perhaps you've walked into the tow bar on your car. It hurt, you cursed, rubbed your shin, and carried on with your day. An hour later you'd completely forgotten it happened.

Most people don't connect these types of everyday impacts with ongoing aches, stiffness, or restrictions in the body. Yet sometimes it is these sudden, unexpected events that can create trapped pressure patterns the body later adapts around.

Over time, the body compensates around these patterns. The place you feel the pain or restriction is not always the place where the trapped pressure originally occurred.

Is ConTact C.A.R.E Right For Me?

ConTact C.A.R.E may be helpful if you are experiencing:

• Back pain and stiffness
• Neck and shoulder tension
• Sciatica
• Headaches
• Hip discomfort
• Restricted movement
• Recurring aches and pains
• Old injuries that never seem to fully resolve
• Unexplained discomfort affecting daily life

Every person is different, and no two sessions are exactly the same.

What Happens During A Session?

Your session begins with a brief discussion about what is happening in your body and what has brought you in.

Sessions are tailored to your comfort and may be carried out lying down, sitting, or standing, fully clothed. You are welcome to move or adjust your position throughout the session if needed.

Using gentle contact points, we work with the body's responses to identify areas of trapped pressure and compensation. Many people are surprised by where the body leads us and how releasing pressure in one area can influence movement and comfort elsewhere.

Most sessions last around 45 minutes.

What People Often Notice

While every person's experience is different, people commonly report:

• Easier movement
• Feeling lighter
• Reduced tension
• Greater flexibility
• Improved comfort
• Better balance in the body
• A sense of relaxation

Sometimes improvements occur in the area they came in for. Other times they notice changes in parts of the body they weren't expecting.

Why We Love This Work

What first drew us to ConTact C.A.R.E was its unique way of looking at the body.

Again and again, we saw that the place where someone feels pain is not always where the problem began.

We have always been fascinated by the body's ability to adapt, protect itself, and compensate so we can keep functioning through life's knocks, strains, and unexpected impacts.

ConTact C.A.R.E provides a practical, hands-on way of listening to those patterns and helping the body release pressure it may still be carrying.
