Building Real Connections: Authenticity, Trust, and Cutting the Crap
In this talk, we’re cutting through the fluff and getting real about what it means to build genuine, meaningful connections. It’s more than just mateship or keeping the peace—it’s about truly understanding and embracing who you are, and connecting with others on a deeper level.
We’ll dive into the hard stuff—authentic communication and how being upfront and genuine can transform your relationships, whether it's with your partner, mates, or family. You’ll see why vulnerability isn’t a weakness; it’s the key to stronger, more honest connections. And we’ll look at how not being clear about your needs (those hidden, unspoken expectations) can create resentment—what No More Mr. Nice Guy calls those “uncommunicated contracts.”
We’ll get practical with strategies for better communication, sorting out conflict, and building trust, drawing from Gabor Maté’s ideas around authenticity and attachment. Through hands-on exercises and no-bull discussions, you’ll learn how to speak your truth and respect others who do the same.
Come along and discover how real connection can lead to more meaningful, solid relationships—and a life that feels a whole lot more genuine.
We know life can be tough, and sometimes it feels like you’re stuck in a loop of trying to please everyone while your own needs get pushed aside. Our group is for everyday Kiwis who want to break free from that cycle, meet others who understand, and get some real support.
